A 1 month exhibition September 2012
In cooperation with a Norwegian initiative, Project Moken, Sofie visited and lived with the Moken People in Burma and Thailand on several expeditions. Drifters displays photographs of their unique aquatic based nomadic culture juxtaposed with the introduction of western lifestyle, ideals and desires.
The exhibition also included the photo-film, I Am Light, winner of the London Festival of Photography Prize in 2012 which features an artist living in an alternative encampment in Norway together with Roma Gypsies.
Sofie Olsen was born in Oslo, Norway (1985). She graduated in June 2011 from a one-year program at the International Center of Photography and Photojournalism program, where she was awarded a scholarship.
Currently she is working on a documentary project with the Project Moken team on the Moken people, indigenous sea nomads living on the Mergui Archipelago, on the westcoast of Thailand and Burma.
She won the London Festival of Photography Prize in 2012 with her photo-film I Am Light
