A wheat field on Wenlock Barn.

The site was initiated with a small performance based on an Egyptian sowing ritual. Grown and Bread then saw residents and School Pupils, plough , sow and eventually harvest their own organic wheat from in front of one of the Estate blocks.

The project took people on a journey of a wheat farmer through furrows, ploughmans sandwiches, sickles,songs, threshing and winnowing. Using each to draw out oral histories, magic and folklore.

After the Harvest the project became about bread making, exploring flour types and baking methods.As a celebration a trip was made to Hammonds End organic wheat farm, who donated the seeds,to compare growing techniques.
